The Gulf Coast Community Foundation has given more than $2 million in grants to more than 50 nonprofit organizations in Florida in the wake of Hurricane Ian, the foundation announced Tuesday.
"Our team has been diligently working around the clock to assist our region as it recovers from this monstrous storm," foundation CEO Mark Pritchett said in a statement.
"We are grateful to work with such inspirational and resilient nonprofit partners who utilize the initiative's funding to provide opportunities for all."
Among the recipients: the Venice Theatre, $200,000; the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties, Inc., $230,000; the Florida Center for Early Childhood, $20,000; the United Cajun Navy, $20,000; the Florida Center for Early Childhood, $25,000; and the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation, $25,000.
The grants were awarded as part of the foundation's Hurricane Ian Relief Fund, which received donations from across the US, as far away as Oregon.
